Southbound X342 is on hold at CP Gil to await the arrival of a northbound Q train. A CSX SD40-2 and a CSX C40-8W, both former Conrail units, make for a sweet lash-up on this sunny afternoon.
X342 is southbound on the old WC, as it passes over Route 45 in Mundelein with a CSX SD40-2/C40-8W combo. Just up the line, the train will hop onto the J to continue its trip.
Being thrown in every siding for every northbound on the mainline, X342 with a CSXT SD40-2 leader once again holds in another siding as a northbound Q117 thunders north with a SD70M-2 leader.
An extra 342 manifest heads north through the manual interlocking at Brighton Park. A loaded rail train was at the headend of this freight.
